SOMBER ECHOES – Launch Trailer

Somber Echoes is a dark fantasy Metroidvania filled with exploration and cosmic horrors.

The teams from Rock Pocket Games and Lav Games have produced a Greco-Roman tragedy with a science-fiction twist, and looked to our team to help bring the game’s mood and gameplay to the screen for their launch trailer.

The developers had in their drawer a recording of voice actor Melina Spetsieri’s monologue from the point of view of Harmonia – the game’s antagonist – which they were unsure about how to use. We found great inspiration in the piece, and we condensed, reordered and restructured the text to function as our guiding star for the trailer.

We took great care to capture exciting and dynamic combat from all over the game’s many areas, and spent countless hours in the halls of the spaceship Atromitos to familiarise ourselves with every facet of the game.

Most teams are probably too close to the project to have the perspective needed for producing a trailer for their game. Ragdoll not only has the understanding of the art form of trailer making and video games to exceed the expectations, but also has the technical experience to do the work without too much input from the developer. That can be a huge plus for the right project. Their process has passion when needed, while retaining focus on what matters.
